Borrowing Policy:

The Lower School Library reserves the option to not circulate a book(s) if a faculty member requires that it be put on Reserve status. Students have set limits to the number of books that may be checked out according to their grade level.   Reference books do not circulate among students. Faculty have full checkout privileges. Parents of Lower School students may borrow books. See the librarian about setting up an account.

Inter-Library Loan Service:

GCS students may have books delivered from the Upper School, Middle School and Primary School libraries by filling out a request form in the Lower School library by noon each day. The books will generally be available by 10 a.m. the next day at the Lower School Circulation Desk.

Two weeks (may be renewed in most cases)

Collection:

The Lower School Library holds approximately 9, 000 volumes,

11 periodicals for professional reference and 12 periodicals for students. The collection reflects the mission of the Glenelg Country School and is currently strong in materials pertaining to core curriculum subjects, science, and well-reviewed children's literature. Consideration is always given to the interests and subject-specialty of GCS faculty when making purchases.
